We got married in 2024, in the D.C. area, with families on both sides generously chipping in. Our budget lived the way most wedding budgets do: a spreadsheet, a group chat, and a lot of goodwill. The money itself was never the problem — everyone wanted to help. The problem was that nobody could see where things stood. Which deposits were paid? What had Mom's contribution covered so far? Was the Zelle from last month for the florist or the band?

We made it to the altar just fine — but the bookkeeping deserved better than the tools we could find. Nothing treated family contributions as the first-class thing they are; at best they were a note in a spreadsheet cell. So after the wedding, we built what we wished we'd had: one budget for the couple, a private view for every contributor, AI that reads the contracts so nothing slips, and a ledger that accounts for every dollar to the cent.
